Hello! My name is Paula and thank you for your interest in CT Tutors!
A little about me: I have a background in musical theatre and have been teaching voice and acting lessons to students for over 10 years now! I've also taught ESL at various schools in NYC during my time living there and greatly enjoyed it. After the pandemic, I moved to CT and in 2021 opened a children's birthday party/event planning company- "Enchanted Moments Events." I have loved running this company and working with children over the past couple years, as well as raising my toddler! As a mom, I understand wanting the best for your kids. So I've decided to open "CT Tutors" to bring caring, experienced, and professional teachers right to your home! There are so many incredible teachers here in Fairfield county and they would love to help your child exceed and grow in whatever subject they may need a little extra support in. Hello! My name is Prena and I have taught for over 35 years in the New York City school system. I hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and am licensed to teach grades K–6. Throughout my career, I specialized in literacy and math instruction, working with students in both small group and one-on-one settings to help them build confidence and achieve their learning goals. Teaching has always been my passion, and I love motivating students to reach their full potential through patience, encouragement, and individualized support. In my spare time, I enjoy writing books for my grandchildren and spending time outdoors surrounded by nature.

I taught third grade in the Wolcott Public School system for 14 years until my daughter was born. I also have experience as an assistant teacher in both preschool and first grade classrooms. I live in Fairfield with my husband David, 7 year old daughter Grace, my dog Bella, and cat William. I am a huge Disney fan and enjoy reading and traveling.

Hola! my name is Katherine. I am originally from Peru and I am a native Spanish speaker. I have a bachelor’s degree in Lenguas Extranjeras with a focus on English and French. I have been teaching for 7+ years, including four years as a Spanish teacher for elementary grades 3–5 and middle school grades 6–8. I am currently an elementary teacher in Stratford, where I have spent the last four years teaching 5th grade in their dual language program.
I have also taught English to adults at Uceda Institute in Norwalk. I am a patient and dedicated educator who enjoys supporting every learner and helping them grow academically, socially, and as bilingual individuals.

I started my career as a middle school Social Studies teacher with the Diocese of Bridgeport and for the last 7 years I have been a special education teacher in the Stamford Public Schools. My current role with the district is Department Leader for Special Education at Westhill High School. My name is Juan Agurto and I am a 6-12th Mathematics tutor. I have been tutoring since I was in high school, as part of the national honors society community in the Stamford Public schools. The most rewarding thing about being a teacher for me is the feeling when the student comprehends something that used to be tough for them. I also have experience working with clients with special needs students, which I gained during my internship at public schools in Stamford. I believe that teaching doesn't have boundaries and everyone can learn one way or another. I love to give real word examples whenever it is possible during my teaching in order to create a fun and relatable mathematical activity. Besides middle schoolers and high schoolers, I have also tutored adults in order to reach their GED. Finally, I can tutor mathematics in Spanish if needed, as I have experience teaching ESL or new arrivals students.
